General Mills in Hannibal, MO is seeking a Utilities Mechanic to maintain and troubleshoot facilities equipment across boilers, ammonia systems, HVAC, and related infrastructure. The role requires a safety-conscious approach, strong electrical/mechanical skills, and the ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Starting pay is $33.53 per hour, with post-training increases to $36.95 and $38.55 per hour.

Formación

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or related field.
• Proficient with multimeter and electrical components.
• Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and three-phase systems.
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and communicate in English.

Responsabilidades

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facilities equipment including boilers, steam systems, ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, and related infrastructure.
• Operate and troubleshoot equipment with solid electrical/mechanical knowledge.
• Complete wastewater sampling and monitor boiler chemistry per shift.
• Monitor ammonia and boiler systems per regulations; support alarm systems after training.
• Document work and communicate issues during shift handoffs; support cross-functional safety and quality programs.
• Follow GMP/HACCP and safety standards; assist other plant areas as needed.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information

• 12-hour rotating shifts
  • AM: 6:00am – 6:30pm
  • PM: 6:00pm – 6:30am
• Rotating crew pattern: 2-2-3 rotating
• Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed
• Plantoperates24 hours/day, 7 days/week

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As part of our manufacturing team, you will:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on facilities-owned equipment, including boilers and steam systems, ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, compressed air, cooling towers, loading docks, wastewater systems and drains, storage-racking systems, and general building systems.
• Operate and troubleshoot supported equipment using sound electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Complete daily wastewater sampling and monitoring, and check boiler, feedwater, and condensate chemistry once per shift—or more often when needed.
• Perform daily checks on ammonia and boiler systems as required by applicable regulations.
• Support site-wide alarm systems for fire, severe weather, and ammonia emergencies after training.
• Understand and troubleshoot site-security equipment, including gates, key-fob readers, and turnstiles.
• Use maintenance and quality systems to document work, readings, inspections, and required checks. Communicate maintenance issues during shift handoffs and relay unresolved issues to the next shift.
• Follow GMP, HACCP, allergen-control, foreign-material-control, and chemical-control requirements while troubleshooting and maintaining equipment.
• Participate in safety audits, safety observations, investigations, food-safety inspections, and cross-functional teams such as Yield, Efficiency, and Safety.
• Perform general facilities work, including painting and salting sidewalks and portions of the parking lot during winter weather.
• Assistother plant areas as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or GED
• 2 years of experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field
• Proven ability to use multimeter and other electrical equipment/components
• Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
• Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems
• Ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts
• Mustpossessthe ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplaceregardingwork matters (our business isgenerally conductedin English)
• Ability tolift upto 50lbs
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights whileutilizingstairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
• Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net,gloves,and face masks (whenrequired)
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and foodallergens
