Job summary

Kansas Turnpike Authority is seeking a Utilities Superintendent to lead the operation, maintenance and improvement of essential utility systems across the Lawrence/Topeka area. You will direct a skilled team, manage projects, and collaborate with contractors to ensure safe, reliable service for employees and the traveling public.

Qualifications include a Kansas master electrical/plumbing license, HVAC certification, and 7+ years in trade work with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical, plumbing, or mechanical trades.
• Minimum two year of supervisory experience.
• Underground storage tank operator training.
• Experience with adjusting defects in systems and equipment.
• Experience with fiber location and installation.
• Pump and boiler repair.
• Ditch and rescue work.
• Master electrical or plumbing license in Kansas; HVAC/mechanical certification; CDL; KDHE wastewater operator license; First aid/CPR; Confined space and EPA certifications.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical, plumbing, HVAC and power generation systems.
• Lead a skilled maintenance team and coordinate with contractors/vendors.
• Develop project specifications, manage budgets, oversee purchasing, ensure safety and compliance.
• Plan for future operational needs and drive improvements across the utility infrastructure.
