Job summary

Paylocity in Bowmansville, PA seeks an experienced backhoe operator to execute trenching and material handling on active construction sites. You will operate a tractor-type vehicle with a hydraulically powered bucket, focusing on safety, OSHA compliance, and efficient job site organization.

Candidates should have at least one year of backhoe experience, trenching/excavation know-how, and the ability to read operator manuals. Trade school is preferred; no formal education required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience operating a backhoe or similar equipment.
• Experience with trenching and/or excavation work required.
• No formal education is required; trade school or related technical training preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow equipment operator manuals and manufacturer guidelines.
• Working knowledge of safety policies and ability to identify hazards and take corrective action.

Responsibilities

• Safe operations in active roadway work zones.
• Dig trenches to meet OSHA requirements for trenching and excavating.
• Dig trenches to preset grades (pipe laser).
• Dig trenches and hold grade without the use of a laser.
• Unload materials.
• Stone in trenches when necessary.
• Make sure area is back to grade and has proper drainage.
• Move and use the stone box and trench box system.
• Set manholes, inlets, and other structures.
• Help in the backfill process.
• May work with a variety of attachments (hydraulic breaker, hydraulic tamper, grapple, stump. splitter, etc.).
• May dig inside trench box.
• Responsible for daily transportation to the job site.
• Maintenance (on any attachments)
• Check fluids on machine and add if needed.
• Lubricate according to operator's manual instructions unless superseded by BEI policy and instruction.
• Perform daily visual inspection of the machine.
• Completes a daily inspection form.
• Clean tracks daily.
