Job summary

PowerLines is seeking an engineering professional to gain deep knowledge of the utility sector, support regulatory testimony, and provide technical resources across electrical, gas, or generation systems. The role emphasizes communication of complex analyses to diverse audiences and may involve travel.

Minimum ABET-accredited degree and PE license in Missouri are preferred; 0–4 years experience with strong analytical and collaborative skills is desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering ABET-approved (December graduates welcome).
  • 0-4 years progressive engineering experience; 1 year in regulatory/utility environment preferred.
  • Missouri Professional Engineer license required for PE position.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and word processing is essential.
  • Knowledge of depreciation software is preferred.
  • Experience with computer simulation and databases is preferred.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team.
  • Strong analytical, writing and interpersonal skills and personal computer experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Gain knowledge of the utility industry in areas such as depreciation, generation, transmission, distribution, services, construction, production and/or resource planning.
  • Prepare testimony in PSC hearing on utility rates.
  • Serve as an engineering technical resource in electrical, gas or generation systems or in specific aspects of statistical or production cost modeling.
  • Enhance ability to formulate research strategies and apply analytical methods or computer models to provide high quality information to decision makers.
  • Develop strong verbal and written communication to explain complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Position may require occasional in- and out-of-state travel.
