Job summary

Marchex is seeking an experienced UI Engineer to build and operate modern web applications, APIs, and cloud services. You will work on frontend with Angular, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and collaborate across product and infra teams.

Backend development with C#/.NET and Azure experience are valued, along with CI/CD and AI-assisted tooling. You will contribute to distributed systems, ensure maintainable code, and participate in deployment pipelines while adapting to ambiguity and fast-paced product

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 3+ years of professional software design and development experience.
• Strong frontend development experience with Angular preferred, or comparable modern frameworks such as React, Vue, Next, or Nuxt.
• Solid understanding of frontend architecture, state management, responsive UI development, asynchronous programming, and reactive patterns such as RxJS or Redux.
• Experience with backend development using C# and modern .NET, preferably .NET 8 or later. Node.js, TypeScript, Scala, or functional backend experience is a plus.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, API gateways, authentication and authorization patterns, SQL and NoSQL concepts, and cloud-native services. Azure experience is a plus.
• Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, monitoring, and testing practices using tools such as GitHub Actions, Bicep, New Relic, Application Insights, Jasmine, Cypress, or Playwright.
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted developer tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, or GitHub Copilot, with the ability to evaluate AI-generated code critically and produce maintainable, well-tested software.
• Demonstrated experience developing production mobile applications for iOS and Android, including requirements interpretation, application design, implementation, testing, debugging, release support, and ongoing maintenance.
• Familiarity with LLM integration concepts, reusable AI workflows, MCP-enabled capabilities, Kafka, or event streaming is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate deployments, document decisions, mentor teammates, and make sound tradeoffs while operating through ambiguity.

Job Overview

As a UI Engineer at Marchex, you will help build and operate modern web applications, APIs, and cloud services that support critical client-facing products. This role requires a strong frontend foundation, practical backend experience, comfort working with cloud services and delivery pipelines, and the judgment to use AI‑assisted development tools responsibly to produce maintainable, production‑ready software. Working Conditions

The is a remote position. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on‑going basis throughout the day. Corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events.
