Job description

The Mass Markets Digital Strategy team at one of our largest Fortune 200 energy-generation clients is seeking UX Designers to support a large-scale residential digital transformation and systems-integration initiative.

This project will modernize customer-facing digital experiences as residential retail brands are integrated into a shared technology ecosystem. These brands will maintain distinct identities in the market while providing customers with cohesive, intuitive experiences across public websites, enrollment journeys, and authenticated account-management platforms.

Designers will be aligned to one of two primary workstreams based on their experience:

Residential Acquisition Experience

This workstream focuses on the public, pre-login customer journey. The designer will support the rebuild and migration of customer-facing websites into Adobe Experience Manager, along with the design of new-customer plan-selection and enrollment experiences. The work also includes adapting the enrollment journey to support existing-customer plan selection and renewals.

The ideal designer for this workstream has experience with responsive websites, ecommerce-style funnels, enrollment, registration, checkout, applications, renewals, or other multi-step transactional experiences.

Customer Experience Platform

This workstream focuses on the authenticated, post-login Customer Experience Platform, where customers manage accounts, products, and services. The designer will enhance existing platform workflows to support customers who may have another existing retailer account, or accounts with both brands.

The ideal designer for this workstream has experience with authenticated customer portals, dashboards, account-management platforms, and complex multi-account, multi-product, or multi-brand experiences.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop process flows and customer journeys across web and digital platforms.
  • Design intuitive pre-login or post-login customer experiences based on your assigned workstream.
  • Create low- and high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and production-ready designs using Figma.
  • Evaluate existing workflows and modify screen flows to accommodate new functionality and business requirements.
  • Leverage established Figma libraries, reusable components, brand standards, and enterprise design systems.
  • Modify or extend design-system components when existing patterns cannot support new functionality or branding needs.
  • Support responsive, component-based web experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Conduct or support customer research through interviews, surveys, usability studies, and task-based prototype testing.
  • Use research findings and customer feedback to validate design direction and make intentional design decisions.
  • Facilitate stakeholder information sessions, portfolio reviews, and design reviews to create alignment.
  • Clearly present design recommendations, tradeoffs, and rationale to business and technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, business partners, developers, researchers, marketing teams, and UX leadership.
  • Work with technical teams to evaluate design feasibility, system constraints, and implementation considerations.
  • Partner with developers throughout implementation to answer design questions and maintain consistency.
  • Support design QA and UAT to ensure fidelity between approved designs and the implemented customer experience.
  • Independently own assigned workflows and deliverables while partnering with UX leadership for mentorship and guidance.
  • Support related website and digital-experience initiatives as priorities evolve throughout the engagement.
Required Qualifications
  • Approximately five or more years of professional UX, product design, interaction design, or related digital-design experience.
  • A portfolio of UX or product design work that can be shared during the interview process.
  • Strong experience using Figma to create process flows, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and production-ready designs.
  • Experience working with established Figma libraries, reusable components, and enterprise design systems.
  • Ability to reuse, modify, or create components while maintaining consistency with established design standards.
  • Experience designing responsive customer-facing websites, transactional workflows, authenticated platforms, or other complex digital products.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve targeted UX challenges within existing products and workflows.
  • Experience developing user journeys, process flows, screen flows, and interaction patterns.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, navigation, visual hierarchy, interaction design, and responsive behavior.
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research, usability testing, interviews, surveys, or task-based prototype testing.
  • Ability to translate research findings and stakeholder feedback into clear design improvements.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain the rationale behind design decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with development teams to evaluate feasibility and translate designs into implementation.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience supporting QA or UAT to ensure design-to-development fidelity.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a cross-functional Agile environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager or another component-based content management system.
  • Experience designing authenticated customer portals, dashboards, or account-management platforms.
  • Experience supporting multi-account, multi-product, multi-tenant, or multi-brand digital experiences.
  • Experience applying multiple brand standards within a shared technology ecosystem.
  • Experience in energy, utilities, telecommunications, financial services, insurance, healthcare, ecommerce, or another industry with complex customer accounts and transactional workflows.
  • Experience modifying mature digital products rather than working exclusively on greenfield designs.
  • Experience working with distributed teams across Central or Eastern time zones.
What Success Looks Like

The successful designer will be able to understand a complex customer or business problem, map the relevant journey, and make intentional improvements within an established digital ecosystem. They will balance customer needs, business requirements, branding, accessibility, and technical feasibility while clearly communicating the reasoning behind their decisions.

This individual will be comfortable working within an existing design system, identifying when a component or workflow needs to evolve, and partnering with developers through implementation. They will be detail-oriented, collaborative, adaptable, and capable of independently owning work while seeking input when appropriate.
