Job summary

Altorfer is seeking a shop technician to dismantle Caterpillar equipment and salvage usable parts and components for inventory and resale. This role requires hands-on mechanical skills and a commitment to safety in a busy shop environment.

You will remove, clean, repair, and rebuild parts, provide strong customer service, operate unloading equipment safely, and maintain organized inventory while following company safety rules and standards.

Qualifications

• Three years’ service experience required after training.
• Skills in engine, transmission, electrical & hydraulic repair.
• Computer literate; familiar with Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to follow safety rules and wear PPE.
• Must lift 75–100 lbs and bring own tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.

Overview

This position is responsible for tearing down Caterpillar equipment to salvage the parts and components.

Basic Duties

• Remove, clean, fix, rebuild parts and components.
• Provide excellent customer service to all customers.
• Operate equipment in a safe manner to unload equipment.
• Establish and maintain a service oriented relationship with customers and supervisors.
• Ship/receive parts and store for inventory.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a formal technical training program with a minimum of three years’ service experience required.
• Must have engine, transmission, electrical & hydraulic, diagnostic, trouble shooting and repair skills.
• Computer literate. Must be familiar with programs such as Microsoft, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to follow all safety rules and wear proper safety equipment in the shop.
• Must be a self-starter with good time management. Ability to meet time requirement guidelines.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills required.
• Ability to work overtime and some weekends when needed.
• Excellent communication skills (written, e-mail, and verbal) are necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 75-100lbs and provide your own tools.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in a shop/warehouse environment. May, on a continuous basis, walk, bend and lift up to 75-100lbs. May be required to wear appropriate safety equipment (IE- Safety glasses or side shields) when needed. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
