Job summary

Parkway Family Auto Group in Tomball, TX is seeking an experienced automotive technician able to diagnose and repair most vehicle components with minimal supervision. Prior work as a C Class general service technician and foreign-car experience are required.

The role offers a full-time schedule (Mon–Fri) with potential weekend work, ongoing manufacturer training, and opportunities for growth. ASE certifications and electrical/electronic systems certification are required.

Qualifications

• ASE and electrical/electronic certifications required.
• Experience working on foreign cars.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicle systems per repair order, meeting dealership and factory standards.
• Road test vehicles to verify concerns and confirm repairs.
• Communicate findings and estimates to the service advisor.
• Prepare parts and labor estimates for repairs.
• Coordinate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Supervise apprentices as assigned and ensure shop cleanliness and safety.

Essential Duties

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, road tests vehicle to verify concerns written on the repair order.
• Diagnoses cause of most malfunctions and performs repair after approval has been received.
• Communicate with the service advisor the findings of concern.
• Prepare parts and labor estimate for the advisor on the needed repairs.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Checks for TSBS, service bulletins, broadcast messages.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Note any obvious damage detected or vehicle modification.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Repeat repairs must be signed off on by service manager before new job can be started.
• Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician. Document minimum of 3 miles on repair order for road testing.
• All non-complete repair orders must be turned in to the managers designated place at the end of the each work day.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean. Empties trash in work area, work bench and floor to be kept clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received. Tools are to be checked out and back in.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Ability to commute/relocate:

Tomball, TX: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Requirements:

• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications
• Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification for Auto/Light Truck
• Valid Driver's License
• Must have experience working on foreign cars.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
