Job summary

Parkway Family Auto is seeking an experienced automotive technician to diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicle components with minimal supervision. The role requires prior work as a C Class general service technician and experience with foreign cars, with ASE and EV certification preferred.

You will perform repairs per repair orders, communicate findings to service advisors, prepare estimates, coordinate with parts, and conduct road tests.

Qualifications

• ASE Certifications required.
• Electrical/Electronic Systems Certification for Auto/Light Truck required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Must have experience working on foreign cars.

Responsibilities

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.
• Diagnoses causes of malfunctions and performs repairs after approval.
• Communicate findings to the service advisor.
• Prepare parts and labor estimates for the advisor.
• Coordinate with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Tag and save parts when under warranty or at customer request.
• Check for TSBS, service bulletins, and broadcast messages.
• Road test vehicles and document at least 3 miles on the repair order.
• Ensure shop area is neat and tools accounted for.
• Supervise apprentices as assigned and report safety issues.

Essential Duties

• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards, road tests vehicle to verify concerns written on the repair order.
• Diagnoses cause of most malfunctions and performs repair after approval has been received.
• Communicate with the service advisor the findings of concern.
• Prepare parts and labor estimate for the advisor on the needed repairs.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Checks for TSBS, service bulletins, broadcast messages.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Note any obvious damage detected or vehicle modification.
• Communicates with service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order. Repeat repairs must be signed off on by service manager before new job can be started.
• Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician. Document minimum of 3 miles on repair order for road testing.
• All non-complete repair orders must be turned in to the managers designated place at the end of the each work day.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Supervises work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Keeps shop area neat and clean. Empties trash in work area, work bench and floor to be kept clean.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received. Tools are to be checked out and back in.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.

Requirements

• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications

• 8 hour shift
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
