Job summary

Mohawk Chevrolet in Ballston Spa, NY is seeking a skilled Used Car Service Technician for the 2nd shift (4pm–12am). You will diagnose, repair, and maintain used vehicles, conduct thorough inspections, and ensure the quality and reliability of our used car inventory.

You will work with the service team, update service records, and communicate recommendations to customers, while upholding manufacturer standards and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification from an accredited automotive repair program (e.g., ASE certification) preferred.
• Proven experience as a mechanic or technician, with used car service experience desirable.
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
• NYS Inspectors License and valid NYS driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical issues on used vehicles.
• Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, brake inspections, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.
• Identify and report safety or performance issues to the Service Manager.
• Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections, including engine diagnostics, transmission checks, and brake systems.
• Test drive vehicles to ensure proper functioning after repairs or maintenance.
• Maintain and update detailed service records for each vehicle worked on.
• Work closely with the service team to manage repair schedules and parts inventory.
• Ensure repairs meet manufacturer standards and safety regulations.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding service recommendations and repairs.

Salary Range: $50,000.00 To $175,000.00 Annually

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Used Car Service Technician to join our 2nd shift automotive service team. The 2nd shift lasts from 4pm - 12am. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining vehicles, with a focus on used car inventory. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, performing necessary repairs and maintenance, and ensuring the overall quality and reliability of our used cars.

• Strong knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair procedures.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and equipment.
• NYS Inspectors License
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills and customer service-oriented attitude

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
• Ability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a garage or workshop environment with exposure to automotive fluids and chemicals.
