Job summary

Toyota Certified Center of Santee is seeking an Used Car Technician to inspect, diagnose, and repair pre-owned vehicles to meet quality and safety standards. You will use advanced diagnostic equipment and perform maintenance to prepare vehicles for retail sale.

The role requires ASE certification in relevant areas, a clean driving record, and the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. We uphold high ethical standards within our dealership environment.

Qualifications

• Two to five years of experience as an automotive technician.
• ASE certification in Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Heating and A/C, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Transmission or Suspension/Steering.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inspections on used vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Complete repairs and preventive maintenance efficiently and accurately.
• Perform multipoint inspections and document findings.
• Supervise and train apprentice or entry-level technicians.
• Follow federal, state, and local regulations and safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Report defective equipment or unsafe conditions to the Service Manager.
• Work overtime and weekends as required.
• Maintain a safe driving record.

Job description

The Used Car Technician is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing pre-owned vehicles to ensure they meet our quality and safety standards. Using advanced diagnostic equipment and industry best practices, the technician identifies mechanical and electrical issues and performs the necessary repairs and maintenance to prepare vehicles for retail sale. As with all positions within dealerships, service technicians are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards.

• Perform comprehensive inspections on used vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and drivability concerns using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Complete repairs and preventive maintenance efficiently and accurately.
• Perform multipoint inspections and document findings.
• Supervising and training apprentice or entry-level technicians.
• Understand and comply with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA laws. Follow all safety and work instructions in handling equipment and materials.
• Maintain clean and safe work area at all times.
• Report defective equipment, equipment failures or unsafe conditions immediately to the Service Manager.
• Work overtime and weekends as required.
• Maintain a safe driving record.
• Other duties as assigned

• Two to five years of experience as an Automotive Technician required.
• Must hold at least one current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification in one or more of the following specialty areas: Engine Repair, Engine Performance, Heating and Air Conditioning, Electrical/Electronic Systems, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle, Manual Drivetrain and Axles, Brakes, or Suspension and Steering.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
