The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is the City agency responsible for regulating for-hire transportation in New York City, including taxis, street hail liveries, high-volume for-hire services such as Uber and Lyft, black cars, luxury limousines, livery vehicles, commuter vans, and paratransit vehicles. The TLC oversees a transportation ecosystem that moves nearly 1 million riders every single day the equivalent of the entire Boston transit system. TLC is the agency responsible for regulating New York City's taxicab and for-hire vehicle industry. With approximately 180,000 licensed drivers, 1,000 businesses, 115,000 vehicles including and the iconic yellow taxi at the heart of our city’s identity, TLC is entering a new era of dignity, accountability, and collaboration across the for hire vehicle sector. TLC continues to be on the front lines of a rapidly changing mobility landscape and our innovative efforts--whether requiring minimum pay for app drivers, ensuring wheelchair accessible service, making our licensed fleet more environmentally sustainable, working to eliminate traffic fatalities, or preventing discriminatory service--often serve as a model for other cities.
TLC’s Uniformed Services Bureau (USB) is the division responsible for the safety of the riding public. Comprised of uniformed Peace Officers and Inspectors dedicated to public safety and upholding TLC regulations, USB’s two main units are Safety and Emissions, and Enforcement. The USB manages the agency's vehicles and facilities, and oversees the divisions responsible for inspecting TLC-licensed vehicles and enforcing against unlicensed for-hire activity throughout New York City.
Reporting to the Deputy Commissioner for USB and exercising latitude for independent initiative, judgment, and decision-making, the selected candidate will serve as Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner managing a broad range of administrative and operational support functions. The Executive Assistant acts as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders and serves as a liaison to senior management on special projects.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Manage the Deputy Commissioner's calendar, including scheduling meetings and ensuring all necessary materials are prepared in advance; attend and actively participate in meetings, recording minutes, and distributing follow-up actions; prioritize and respond to incoming correspondence, calls, and emails of a sensitive or confidential nature determining the most effective course of action; assist in arranging, coordinating, and implementing events; organize and track the recruitment and onboarding process for Cadets and non-uniformed staff; prepare spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, letters, memos, and other correspondence for internal and external audiences; and complete special projects and ad hoc assignments as needed.

The preferred candidate should possess 4+ years of professional business experience in a government setting strong knowledge of the principles and techniques of business administration, organization, and coordination exceptional oral and written communication skills to effectively convey the bureau's vision to staff and the public strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills strong presentation and business writing skills advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite products, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel the ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and the ability to excel in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Internal candidates will be preferred.
