Job summary

Walmart Inc. seeks a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead architecture and a hands-on engineering team in Denver. You will design scalable backend services, review code, and guide 3–6 engineers while staying technically hands-on and delivering value.

You will work with AWS, Terraform, Docker and Kubernetes, managing data across relational and NoSQL stores, and pushing CI/CD and observability to maintain high reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/related field or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in software engineering with leadership exposure.
• Experience designing scalable distributed systems and mentoring engineers.
• Hands-on in backend services and cloud architecture encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of modular, scalable backend services with reliability and cost balance.
• Maintain hands-on coding, code reviews, and technical standards.
• Architect and operate distributed systems on AWS using Terraform and containers.
• Own data design across Postgres, MySQL and NoSQL stores.
• Drive testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and defect resolution.
• Mentor and grow a team of 3-6 engineers.
