Position Summary

In this role, the Senior Art Director will partner with a Senior Copywriter and work alongside creative leadership to connect the overarching marketing strategy, social strategy, and execute campaign content at the scale of Walmart and the speed of social. This role works collaboratively with other team leads (within creative & cross-functionally) and focuses primarily on social campaigns but will flex onto other 360 campaign work as needed.

Overview: The Senior Art Director, Brand Campaigns, Social, will support the Walmart Creative Studio in concept through execution for brand campaigns that translate across multiple channels, with a strong social-first approach. The ideal candidate is a strategic problem solver, conceptual thinker, organized, detail-oriented, and exhibits outstanding creative judgment while pushing boundaries.

In this role, the Senior Art Director will partner with a Senior Copywriter and work alongside creative leadership to connect the marketing strategy, social strategy, and execute campaign content at the scale of Walmart and the speed of social. This position involves collaboration with other team leads (within creative & cross-functionally) and focuses mainly on social campaigns but will also support other 360 campaign work as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaboration: Ideate, create, and execute socially led creative work. Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, strategy, and production teams, as well as external partners, to ensure creative cohesion at every touchpoint.
  • Build trust and effective relationships with key partners in a large, highly matrixed organization.
  • Assist creative leadership and marketing in pitch decks to gain alignment and set the team up for success.
  • Manage projects, growth, and development of mid and junior level creatives.
  • Self-directed and a critical thinker.
  • Expertise in social platforms and best practices.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness in workflows.
  • Lead pre- and post-production for static and video content.
  • Manage projects that are on-brief and on-brand, mitigating feedback, and keeping workstreams on track.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, culture, and consumer behaviors to maintain our brand’s competitive edge.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and craft throughout the conceptual and execution process.
  • Oversee production and post-production as needed.
  • Design assets and brand campaigns when required.
  • Manage junior team members and projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and strategic alignment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, advertising, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in professional advertising agency art direction, with at least 2 years in management.
  • Portfolio demonstrating big campaign ideas across full funnel TV/Video, social, digital, experiential, and print—conceptual and innovative thinking.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Slides, Slack, and Figma.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate external agency partners and connect across Walmart Creative Studio.
  • Excellent written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Organized with diligent follow-through on tasks.

Reports to Associate Creative Director, Brand Campaigns, Social.
