Position Summary...

What you'll do...About the team Walmart Connect helps businesses reach Walmart customers across their shopping journey through advertising solutions powered by Walmart’s omnichannel scale and first party data. Within Walmart Connect, the Platform & Infrastructure Enablement (PIE) team helps Analytics teams make effective use of platforms and infrastructure, optimize technical workflows, automate recurring technical work, and build reusable platforms where common needs can scale across teams. Our goal is to help Analytics teams operate and scale efficiently through reliable, scalable and cost-efficient platforms, infrastructure and technical workflows.

About the Role This is a hands-on technical role focused on improving the performance, reliability and efficiency of Analytics code, workflows and infrastructure. You will work directly with WMC Analytics teams to review and optimize complex queries, solve technical and operational challenges, automate recurring work, and improve development practices. The role requires strong technical judgment and the ability to independently investigate complex problems, implement solutions and drive continuous improvement across Analytics workflows and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and optimize complex analytical SQL and workloads, including joins, transformations and scheduled queries, to improve performance, reliability and compute efficiency
  • Improve infrastructure efficiency across workflows, datasets, storage and compute, and build automation for recurring operational work such as scheduled workloads, monitoring and alerts
  • Improve development and DevOps practices for Analytics code and workflows, including source control, job scheduling, configuration, deployment and operational monitoring
  • Provide hands-on technical consultation across code, data pipelines and workflow orchestration, helping Analytics teams diagnose issues and improve the code and workflows they develop without taking ownership of their code or workstreams
  • Independently own technical initiatives and work with Analytics, platform and infrastructure partners to drive solutions from investigation through implementation and ongoing improvement
Qualifications
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in SQL, with deep experience in complex analytical queries, joins, query analysis, performance optimization and large scale analytical workloads
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in Python, including coding, debugging and automation
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, analytical data warehouses and workflow orchestration tools, with a strong understanding of data pipelines, storage and compute
  • Experience with DevOps practices relevant to data and Analytics workflows, including source control, job scheduling, configuration, deployment, monitoring and operational troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems, make sound technical decisions and drive solutions through implementation
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to structure technical problems clearly, explain findings and recommendations, and work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with GCP, BigQuery and Airflow in a large scale Analytics or data environment
  • Experience delivering infrastructure efficiency, performance or cost optimization at scale
  • Experience providing hands-on technical guidance or consultation across multiple teams

What Success Looks Like Success means independently owning complex technical challenges across analytical workloads, infrastructure and automation, while delivering measurable improvements in performance, reliability, operational efficiency and cost and helping Analytics teams improve how their code and workflows are developed and operated.
