Qualifications

Location: Groton , CT

Pay Rate: $24.00/hr (W2)

Job Description

The AIP Technician Assistant provides laboratory support for necropsy and histology activities supporting rodent and non-rodent safety studies. This role assists with study setup, specimen collection and processing, laboratory documentation, and equipment maintenance while ensuring compliance with GLP, SOPs, EHS standards, and animal welfare regulations. Responsibilities include supporting necropsy and histology workflows, specimen handling, chain of custody documentation, and maintaining sample traceability.

Education

• High School Diploma with 1–3 years of relevant laboratory experience; or
• Associate's Degree with 0–2 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Associate's Degree with 1–3 years of experience preferred.

Required Skills

• Laboratory support experience in preclinical or pathology laboratory environments.
• Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Experience with laboratory specimen collection, handling, labeling, and chain of custody documentation.
• Laboratory equipment operation and preventive maintenance.
• Sample traceability and laboratory documentation.
• Compliance with laboratory safety, PPE, and EHS requirements.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with necropsy and tissue collection.
• Histology techniques including tissue processing, paraffin embedding, microtomy, and histology slide staining.
• Experience supporting rodent and non-rodent toxicology or safety studies.
• Experience working in a GLP-regulated pathology or histology laboratory.
