Job summary

Morrison Express is seeking a senior logistics professional to oversee domestic transportation and supply chain operations. The role will drive workflow optimization, carrier strategy, budgeting, and performance management while partnering with customers and internal teams.

The successful candidate will mentor supervisors, manage staffing, and ensure compliance with KPIs, SOPs, and security protocols in a fast-paced environment. This is an on-site role in Elk Grove Village, IL.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in domestic transportation and/or domestic supply chain management.
• Experience with high value, Hot Shot Delivery Trucks.
• Experience and knowledge of international transport (air import).
• Experience managing a team of five or more.
• Strong time management and multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
• Self-motivated and customer service oriented with strong business relationships.
• Excellent computer knowledge and advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Strategic oversight, long-term planning, and departmental performance.

• Report and monitor shipment irregularities in SEMS.
• Drive cost reductions by improving truck utilization and route optimization (consolidation).
• Point of contact for escalation of delivery problems for truckers and resolutions.
• Coordinate trucking service procurement, carrier RFQs, and ad hoc pricing requests.
• Form partnerships with carriers, monitor performance (Scorecard) and adherence to procedures.
• Work with security on load security and coordinate escorts for high-value shipments.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Establishes KPIs, safety protocols, and SOP compliance.
• Handles macro vendor/carrier disputes, departmental budgets, and cross-functional alignment.
• Mentors and evaluates supervisors and manages team of dispatches; handles overall staffing strategy and hiring.
• Direct contact with Key Customers.
• Escalation point for Security and Stakeholders (internal and external).
• Monitor appointment stability metrics for receivers and escape any receiver issues to Key Account Management.
• Ensure timely and accurate cost accrual, invoice processing and billing to customer.
• Report and monitor shipments irregularities in SEMS (Shipment Exemption Management System).
• Drive cost reductions by improving truck utilization and route optimization (consolidation)
• Point of contact for all escalation delivery problems for truckers and finding resolutions.
• Work closely with Domestic Transportation Team on trucking service procurement, carrier QBR and domestic trucking RFQs and ad hoc pricing request.
• Form strong partnerships with carriers, monitor and record carrier performance (Scorecard) and adherence to MEC pick up, in-transit and delivery procedures.
• Work closely with security on enhancing load security.
• Coordinate escorts for high value shipments.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in domestic transportation and/or domestic supply chain management.
• Experience with high value, Hot Shot Delivery Trucks.
• Knowledge and proven experience with planning and optimization.
• Previous experience successfully managing a team of five or more people.
• Proven experience with coordinating escorts for high value shipments.
• Experience handling high volume cross dock shipments coming through the warehouse.
• Must have experience and knowledge of international transport (air import).
• Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgement.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
• Must be a confident self-starter who can develop effective business relationships, both internally and externally.
• Candidates must be self-motivated, customer service oriented, and eager to ensure the success of the team.
• Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
• Excellent computer knowledge, advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.
