Job summary

Sam's Club is seeking a Data Scientist III in Bentonville, AR to apply advanced analytical modeling and data management techniques for complex business challenges. You will mentor junior team members and deploy scalable models while ensuring data quality.

You will work with the Ecommerce Fulfillment Insights team to transform data into insights that improve order fulfillment, delivery efficiency, and operational decisions through SQL, Python, and ML techniques.

Qualifications

  • Option 1: Bachelors in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, IT or related field with 2 years analytics experience.
  • Option 2: Masters in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, CS, IT or related field.
  • Option 3: 4 years analytics/related field experience.

Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, supporting Walmart's commitment to operational excellence and informed decision-making through innovative data strategies.

About the team

The Ecommerce Fulfillment Insights team applies data science, optimization, and artificial intelligence to enhance order fulfillment and delivery efficiency. By transforming complex data into actionable insights, the team supports strategic decisions that improve operations and reduce costs. Members utilize programming, statistical modeling, and data visualization to develop scalable solutions aligned with business goals. Collaborating across functions, the team fosters continuous learning and innovation while upholding high standards of integrity and operational excellence to effectively address evolving business challenges.

What you'll do
  • Apply advanced statistical methods and analytical modeling techniques to develop and refine data-driven solutions.
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature selection, and hypothesis testing to support business decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable data models and insights.
  • Develop, test, and deploy analytical models ensuring performance, scalability, and sustainability in production environments.
  • Utilize programming languages such as SQL and Python to manage data quality, perform data analysis, and automate workflows.
  • Generate clear data visualizations and reports to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.
  • Mentor junior associates in modeling techniques and data analytics best practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $90,000.00 - $180,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location).

Minimum Qualifications

Option 1: Bachelors degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years' experience in an analytics or related field. Option 2: Masters degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field. Option 3: 4 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Data science, machine learning, optimization models, Master's degree in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Information Technology, Operations Research, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R, Using open source frameworks (for example, scikit learn, tensorflow, torch), We value candidates with a background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
