Walmart is seeking a Senior Data Analyst in Bentonville, AR, focused on operations and technology to strengthen operational master data and governing processes. You will work with frontline operators, translate insights for nontechnical stakeholders, and drive changes to systems and data without relying on authority.
This role emphasizes business-facing analytics, critical thinking, and change leadership to support continuous improvement in transportation operations and master data governance.
Position Summary...
What you’ll do...
As a Senior Data Analyst on this team, with a focus on operations and technology, you will use operational knowledge, systems, and change management skills to strengthen operational master data and the processes and governance that surround it. This is not primarily a software development or back-office analytics role — it is a business-facing, technically fluent change agent role. Success in this role requires spending significant time with operational stakeholders, understanding how work is actually performed, identifying root cause, and guiding teams through changes to systems, processes, and master data. You will frequently step into situations where the problem is not clearly defined and there is no established procedure to follow: you will investigate, form hypotheses, partner with frontline transportation operators, translate technical findings into plain language, and guide people through the changes needed to fix the issue. Data and system configuration are tools you will use to diagnose problems and inform decisions — your primary value comes from critical thinking, curiosity, and your ability to build trust and influence stakeholders, not from writing code.
The team is a change management team operating in a technical environment. We conduct strategic reviews of our transportation systems and operational unputs to find opportunities to improve the business through configuration changes and stronger governance processes. The work is process-oriented rather than strictly procedural — there often isn't a playbook, so team members are expected to investigate ambiguous problems, form hypotheses, and drive solutions independently. This is a highly customer-facing team: members regularly build relationships with operators who don't speak “technical,” translate complex concepts into operational language, and guide them through change. Success on this team requires high curiosity, managing stakeholder communications and relationships, strong initiative, and great critical thinking, balanced with enough technical fluency to understand how systems, data, and configurations support the operation.
