Job description

Position Summary

Leads and develops teams effectively by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates, touring stores, and providing feedback. Communicates and collaborates with all levels of associates regarding store operations, utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction. Introduces and leads company change efforts, providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions and communicate business objectives to teams effectively. Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards to store associates by following and demonstrating the One Best Way (OBW) service model. Manages and supports customer service initiatives, including store community outreach programs, ensuring customer needs, complaints, and issues are successfully resolved. Develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies and provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive the financial performance and sales of the designated store area by reviewing and evaluating profit and loss statements, managing budgets, forecasting, and controlling expenses. Monitor and ensure effective merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes. Develop and implement action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals.
  2. Provide supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates through hiring, training, mentoring, and assigning duties. Set clear expectations, provide recognition, and promote a belonging mindset in the workplace. Recruit and develop qualified associates to meet staffing needs and support company growth.
  3. Coordinate, complete, and oversee job-related activities by developing relationships with key stakeholders. Support plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs. Build accountability and measure progress toward results. Identify and address improvement opportunities, demonstrate adaptability, and promote continuous learning.
  4. Ensure compliance with company policies and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity. Implement related action plans, utilize the Open Door Policy, and provide guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.
  5. Build high-performing teams by embracing differences, creating a workplace of belonging, and fostering an environment where associates feel supported and connected. Attract, retain, empower, and develop talent, recognizing contributions and accomplishments.
  6. Act with integrity by maintaining high standards of ethics and compliance, modeling Walmart values, and supporting a culture of accountability and transparency. Support Walmart’s goal of becoming a regenerative company by making a positive impact on associates, customers, and the community.
  7. Deliver results by prioritizing customer needs, making data-driven decisions, and balancing short-term and long-term goals. Consider stakeholders and community impact when planning and executing strategies.

Minimum Qualifications

2 years of college; OR 1 year of retail experience and 1 year of supervisory experience; OR 2 years of general work experience and 1 year of supervisory experience. For facilities selling firearms, successful completion of a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training is required. For facilities selling only ammunition with state-specific requirements, a current state-issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required. Associates must attend and complete all required trainings and assessments, such as Academy and Open Door trainings.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University. Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through the same programs. General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports, including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.
