  • Coordinate with external advisors and service providers, as needed, on compliance, controversy, planning, and special projects.
  • Develop and maintain state tax calendars, audit trackers, process documentation, and filing procedures to support a well‑controlled compliance environment.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting workpapers related to state and local tax accounts.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to staff or shared service resources supporting state and local tax activities.
  • Assist with tax planning initiatives and risk assessments to optimize the company’s state and local tax position while maintaining compliance.
Qualifications

  • Experience supporting state income tax provision calculations and related accounting requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across numerous jurisdictions.
  • Experience with tax research tools, ERP systems, and tax compliance software; familiarity with automation tools is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to non‑tax stakeholders.
