Job summary

Legend Biotech is seeking a Senior Manager, US Payroll to lead end-to-end US payroll operations from our Bridgewater, NJ area. You will own multi-state bi-weekly payroll, manage bonuses, equity, garnishments, and tax updates, and ensure SOX-compliant controls and audit readiness.

You will partner with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, and external vendors to optimize processes, implement system enhancements, and drive improvements that boost accuracy and employee experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 8-10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including leadership of multi-state U.S. payroll operations.
• Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, payroll governance.
• Experience with Workday Payroll and/or Workday HCM strongly preferred.
• CPP certification preferred.
• Expert knowledge of U.S. payroll operations, payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and multi-state administration.
• Strong leadership and talent development skills, with the ability to lead high-performing teams.
• Experience with payroll system implementations, enhancements, or transformation initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end processing of multi-state, bi-weekly payroll.
• Oversee all payroll activities including bonuses, equity, garnishments, deductions, and tax updates.
• Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and SOX controls.
• Maintain payroll governance, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Lead year-end payroll activities including W-2 processing and reporting.
• Collaborate with auditors to support payroll audits and compliance.
• Drive process improvements and automation to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Lead payroll system enhancements and testing with cross-functional teams.
• Provide payroll expertise to HR, Finance, Legal, and external vendors.
