Job description

US Interim Science Teacher - Physical Science

The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic one-year interim science teacher for grades 9-12, capable of teaching all levels of chemistry and physics, for the 2025-26 school year. This is a 1.0, benefits-eligible position. Applicant review will begin April 2, 2025.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Teaching four sections of a combination of chemistry, physics and possibly advanced science electives at various levels in the Upper School (grades 9-12).
  2. Advising a group of 10-12 students.
  3. Holding conferences with students and parents in the fall and spring and writing narrative comments for each student at the end of each semester.
  4. Participating in departmental, divisional and all-school initiatives and meetings.
Experience and Skills:

Qualifications:

  1. Undergraduate degree in science or science education or a related field with a strong preference for an advanced degree or work toward an advanced degree in a relevant field.
  2. Substantial professional experience in science education with a preference for experience teaching at the upper school (grades 9-12) levels.

This position has a starting salary of $56,000-$85,000. If teachers have significant prior teaching experience, their salary may exceed this range. Interim appointment teachers may have the opportunity to apply for the permanent position, which starts in 2026-27.
