US Interim Science Teacher - Physical Science

The Blake School seeks to hire a dynamic one-year interim science teacher for grades 9-12, capable of teaching all levels of chemistry and physics, for the 2025-26 school year. This is a 1.0, benefits-eligible position. Applicant review will begin April 2, 2025.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Teach four sections of a combination of chemistry, physics and possibly advanced science electives at various levels in the Upper School (grades 9-12)
• Advise a group of 10-12 students
• Hold conferences with students and parents in the fall and spring and write narrative comments for each student at the end of each semester
• Participate in departmental, divisional and all-school initiatives and meetings

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in science or science education or a related field with a strong preference for an advanced degree or work toward an advanced degree in a relevant field
• Substantial professional experience in science education with a preference for experience teaching at the upper school (grade 9-12) levels

This position has a starting salary of $56,000-$85,000. If teachers have significant prior teaching experience, their salary may exceed this range. Interim appointment teachers may have the opportunity to apply for the permanent position, which starts in 2026-27.
