Job summary

Clera Labs, Inc. is seeking a backend engineer to help launch Augustus’s US operations from our NYC office. You will own core banking systems end-to-end for a programmable bank built for digital assets and AI, combining a national charter with Marble core.

You will ship code, own major projects, and shape system design in collaboration with product, clients, and engineering. Relocation support and a path to equity are provided.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• 1+ years in early-stage or small startup environments.
• Ability to ship and iterate with ownership and accountability.

About the Role

You'll be one of the first engineers building Augustus's US operations from the ground up, joining a small, elite team in our NYC office. You'll own core banking systems end-to-end, working on the Programmable Bank—a bank built for digital assets and AI that combines a real national bank charter with Marble, our proprietary core banking system. This is a career-defining opportunity to build banking infrastructure that handles real money at scale.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on backend software engineering experience.
• 1+ years working in early-stage or small startup environments.
• Code that is clean, correct, and easy to delete; former teammates would rank you in the top 5% of engineers they've worked with.
• Ability to ship and iterate rather than waiting for perfection; you merge PRs today, not tomorrow.
• Relentless ownership mentality—you can't leave something broken and don't need external accountability to care about quality.
• Comfort operating in genuinely new territory without a playbook; you move before being asked.
• Passion for building core banking systems and financial infrastructure, not another CRUD app.
• Willingness to be based in New York or relocate.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary & Equity: $200,000–$400,000 annual base salary plus equity.
