Job summary

Daily Mail US in New York is seeking an experienced features journalist to join the US Features desk. You will write 1,000–1,400‑word features on real life, showbiz, celebrity, crime, health, and politics, produced quickly for a large digital audience.

You will pitch ideas, secure sources, interview subjects, and turn complex topics into engaging stories while meeting high editorial standards and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a feature writer at a newspaper, news website, magazine, television news show, or comparable newsroom.
• Proven experience producing compelling, impactful features for a digital or mass‑market audience.
• Experience with real-life and/or “As Told To” features is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of the DailyMail.com brand, editorial voice, and audience.
• Ability to generate compelling story ideas consistently and work quickly under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Write fast, engaging 1,000–1,400-word features across multiple topics.
• Develop compelling “As Told To” features based on interviews and case studies.
• Pitch original story ideas daily and identify compelling sources.
• Collaborate with photo editors to source images and build visuals.
• Publish and manage stories using a CMS under tight deadlines.
• Contribute to follow-up coverage and enterprise features as required.
