Job summary

Adyen in New York seeks an Employment Counsel to own US employment litigation and advise the business and HR on high‑risk employment matters. You will manage external counsel and align with global strategy to develop reusable frameworks and policy playbooks.

You will partner with our Amsterdam team and regional colleagues, building scalable processes and training HR professionals to apply sound legal judgment in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in employment law
• In-house or law firm experience
• Strong US employment litigation experience
• Ability to advise and make clear recommendations when law is unsettled
• Autonomous and able to operate as sole employment lawyer in region
• Willingness to travel and work from NY office
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Responsibilities

• Own US employment disputes and litigation from start to resolution.
• Instruct and manage external counsel, ensuring scope, budget and quality.
• Advise on legal risk and balance with practical business outcomes.
• Partner with HR on escalated employee matters and privilege issues.
• Collaborate with Employment Counsel in Amsterdam and global teams on policies and playbooks.
• Provide broad employment law guidance across wage/hour, discrimination, leave, classification and pay transparency.
• Take a global view and help shape the worldwide employment strategy with EMEA, APAC and LATAM.
• Train HR colleagues and managers to embed best practices across the organization.
