Job summary

Mclaurin Aerospace seeks a US Deorbit Vehicle GN&C Simulation Engineer to join the JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. You will develop and test math models and simulations, interact with NASA customers, and contribute to V&V activities.

Requirements include a bachelor’s in engineering and experience with GN&C, orbital mechanics, and MATLAB/Simulink. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential for this multi-company team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or related field) from ABET-accredited school.
  • MS in Aerospace Engineering with GN&C focus is preferred.
  • Experience with Linux, C/C++, FORTRAN, and Python.

Responsibilities

  • Provide math modeling, simulation development, integration, and testing of USDV GN&C systems.
  • Perform and document simulation verification and validation (V&V).
  • Create and deliver math model and simulation documentation.
  • Identify tasks, resolve simulation issues, and assist team members.
  • Interact with NASA customers and contractors during meetings.
  • Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team.
  • Perform other duties as required.

We have an exciting opportunity for a US Deorbit Vehicle GN&C Simulation Engineer to join our JETS II contract team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX.

If selected you will:
  • Provide math modeling, simulation development, integration, and testing of USDV GN&C systems using an established software process.
  • Perform and document simulation verification and validation (V&V)
  • Create and deliver math model and simulation documentation
  • Identify team simulation tasks, resolve simulation issues, and assist team members
  • Directly interact with the NASA customers and contractors during technical meetings and working groups
  • Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (or a related field) from an ABET accredited engineering school
  • Experience with Linux, C/C++, FORTRAN, and Python
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles
  • Experience developing, verifying, and validating math models and simulations
  • Knowledge in the development of GN&C algorithms and spacecraft system analysis
  • Ability to apply knowledge/experience towards timely completion of technical products & services
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-company team environment
  • Strong leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on GN&C, flight controls, and orbital mechanics
  • Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking
  • Experience with the Station/Orbiter Multibody Berthing/Docking Analysis Tool (SOMBAT)
  • Experience with Git/GitLab
  • Experience with JSC TRICK Simulation Environment
  • Experience with NASA NPR-7150.2
  • Experience with simulation visualization and graphics packages
  • Experience in product delivery and management
  • Experience with requirements management tools
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink
