Job summary

Inova Health System in Virginia is seeking an experienced PRN Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) for a busy inpatient/outpatient Urology service. Responsibilities include rounding, progress notes, ER/inpatient consults, and outpatient visits.

Minimum qualifications: graduate of an accredited NP/PA program, board certification (ACNP or NCCPA), BLS, Virginia license, and DEA. Prior urology experience is preferred. This PRN role offers flexible scheduling and strong team support.

Responsibilities

• Daily rounding on inpatients and consults.
• Write progress and consult notes.

• Order/interpret labs and imaging.
• Field calls from bedside nurses.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care and educate patients.
• Outpatient visits.
• Potential first-assist in OR as needed.

Urology Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities:

• Daily morning and afternoon rounding on inpatients and consults,


• Daily writing of progress notes


• Assessment and verbal presentation of ER and inpatient consults


• Writing of consult notes for attending review


• Performing or assisting with bedside procedures (for example: complex catheter placements (including intraoperatively for other surgical subspecialties), complex catheter removal, suprapubic catheter exchanges, urinary catheter irrigation for clot retention, irrigation of priapism, incision and drainage of scrotal abscesses, and others)


• Placing orders for admissions and discharges


• Ordering and interpreting labs and radiologic studies


• Fielding phone calls from beside nurses


• Multidisciplinary care coordination and patient education.


• Outpatient visits


• Some opportunity exists for first-assisting in the OR, as service needs permit or require.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program


• Experience: Prefer a provider with prior urology experience (inpatient or outpatient), or with a minimum of 2 years of any clinical experience.


• Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification)

• DEA

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 or more years of Advanced Practitioner experience in a Urology setting (inpatient or outpatient)
