Job summary

Inova is seeking an experienced PRN Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join a busy inpatient/outpatient Urology service in Northern Virginia. The role includes daily rounds, progress documentation, consult presentations, and possible OR assistance.

Minimum qualifications require NP/PA graduate, board certification, BLS, DEA, and 2+ years in a clinical setting, ideally in urology.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification).
• BLS certification.
• DEA license.
• Preferred 2+ years in Urology (inpatient or outpatient).

Responsibilities

• Daily morning and afternoon rounding on inpatients and consults.
• Daily writing of progress notes for inpatients and consults.
• Assessment and verbal presentation of ER and inpatient consults.
• Writing of consult notes for attending review.
• Performing or assisting with bedside procedures, including complex catheter work.
• Placing orders for admissions and discharges.
• Ordering and interpreting labs and radiologic studies.
• Fielding calls from bedside nurses.
• Multidisciplinary care coordination and patient education.
• Possible first-assist in OR as needed.

Urology Advanced Practice Provider Job Responsibilities:

• Daily morning and afternoon rounding on inpatients and consults,
• Daily writing of progress notes
• Assessment and verbal presentation of ER and inpatient consults
• Writing of consult notes for attending review
• Performingor assisting with bedside procedures (for example: complex catheter placements (including intraoperatively for other surgical subspecialties), complex catheter removal, suprapubic catheter exchanges, urinary catheter irrigation for clot retention, irrigation of priapism, incision and drainage of scrotal abscesses, and others)
• Placing orders for admissions and discharges
• Ordering and interpreting labs and radiologic studies
• Fielding phone calls from beside nurses
• Multidisciplinary care coordination and patient education.
• Some opportunity exists for first-assisting in the OR, as service needs permit or require.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education:Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
• Experience: Prefer a provider with prior urology experience (inpatient or outpatient), or with a minimum of 2 years of any clinical experience.
• Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification)
• BLS
• DEA

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2 or more years of Advanced Practitioner experience in a Urology setting (inpatient or outpatient)
