Job summary

New York Health (NYH) is seeking a Medical Assistant in Urology to support patient care at our Astoria, NY location. The role involves managing patient intake, preparing patients for examinations, and performing point-of-care testing in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (required)
• Proficiency with an EMR system (Preferred)
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, standing, bending and reaching
• Knowledge of standard precautions and PPE when handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYH locations for patient care needs

Responsibilities

• Manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording.
• Collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
• Record patients' vital signs.
• Prepare patients for examinations.
• Sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
• Assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process.
• Assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures.
• Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
• Other duties as assigned.
