Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 2 years of experience required.
• Clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical setting experience.
• Working knowledge of clinical laboratory operations, including LIS, specimen requirements and testing, quality control, external proficiency testing, CLIA requirements for moderately complex laboratories.
• Florida Medical Technician License required.
• MLT/CLT certification through ASCP or AMT preferred/required as applicable.
• Current Florida MLT license or Florida state license application in process.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate-complexity clinical laboratory testing in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Verifying, processing, and preparing specimens.
• Reading microscopy slides and accurately documenting results in EPIC.
• Performing equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Completing quality control activities and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Successfully completing required proficiency testing.
• Utilizing laboratory information systems and electronic medical records.
• Supporting staff competency requirements.
• Prioritizing workload to meet patient and departmental needs.
• Providing exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, nurses, coworkers, and other Lee Health team members.
• Participating in process improvement initiatives to improve turnaround times and the quality of test results.
