Job summary

Beloit Health System invites a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the Beloit Clinic Urology team in Beloit, WI. You work with physicians to provide outstanding patient care for urologic conditions and support a collaborative clinic environment.

The LPN role includes rooming patients, triage, vital signs, medication administration, and EMR documentation, while maintaining records, educating patients, and ensuring safety and infection control.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Current Wisconsin LPN licensure.
• CPR certification within 3 months of hire.
• Prior Urology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and delivery of necessary nursing care.
• Verify that all required consents are signed and dated prior to procedures and participate in procedural time-outs with the Physician/LIP when appropriate.
• Administer medications as ordered by the provider and document administration accurately in the EMR.
• Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date patient records within the EMR.
• Conduct telephone triage and follow-up calls, providing patients with timely guidance and support.
• Effectively utilize computer software applications to complete clinical and administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Manage incoming department phone calls with professionalism and sound judgment.
• Monitor inventory and ensure adequate clinical supplies are available at all times.
• Assess patients' basic physical, psychological, and social needs and communicate concerns appropriately.
• Provide patient and family education regarding treatments, procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
• Adhere to all infection prevention protocols, including standard precautions, body substance isolation, and bloodborne pathogen safety measures.
• Ensure safe handling, administration, and transportation of medications while prioritizing patient safety.
• Promote a safe care environment by identifying and minimizing risks related to falls, disease exposure, and other hazards.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Maintain accurate electronic and/or paper medical records in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Perform blood draws, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and basic laboratory procedures as needed.
• Assist patients with completing medical documentation, including FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and other related forms.
