Job summary

UPMC Carlisle is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support the Urology department. The APP will perform evaluations, procedures, and education in collaboration with the urologic surgeon and team.

Responsibilities include patient assessments, follow-up care, in-office procedures, order/interpret tests, and coordination with staff to ensure high-quality patient experiences. Mon-Fri, 7 a.m.–4 p.m., on-site in Carlisle, PA.

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved PA or CRNP program and national certification.
• Current PA license or CRNP certification required or eligible.
• Experience in urology or surgical settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage common urologic conditions such as BPH, UTIs, hematuria, kidney stones, erectile dysfunction, and incontinence.
• Conduct follow-up visits for surgical and procedural patients, including post-operative care and monitoring.
• Order, review, and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures related to urologic care.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the urologic surgeon.
• Prescribe medications and therapies within scope of practice and state regulations.
• Perform in-office procedures as credentialed, which may include catheterizations, voiding trials, cystoscopy assistance, prostate biopsies assistance, and other urology-related procedures.
• Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, procedures, medications, and ongoing care plans.
• Coordinate care with nursing staff, office staff, and external providers to ensure continuity of care.
• Document all patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
• Respond to patient messages, phone calls, and clinical questions as appropriate.
• Assist with pre-operative evaluations and post-operative follow-up care.

Education

PA or CRNP program completion and national certification

Current PA license or CRNP certification

Urology or surgical experience preferred
