Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration’s Sioux Falls VA Medical Center in South Dakota is seeking a full-time Urologist to join the Surgery/Specialty Care Service. Providers will perform a range of urologic procedures in inpatient and outpatient settings and contribute to comprehensive veteran care.

Qualifications

• Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
• For foreign graduates, confirmation of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility may be required.
• Appointments may be approved under exceptional circumstances where credentials demonstrate high professional attainment in the specialty.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic urologic procedures (e.g., cystoscopy, ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy, TUR, bladder biopsy, ureteral stent insertion, retrogrades, orchiectomy).
• Evaluate and treat patients with urologic disorders.
• Respond to patient calls, inform patients of test/lab results, renew medications, and provide telephone/email advice to providers.
• Enter accurate, complete, timely progress notes in the electronic medical record for each episode of care.
• Proper use, maintenance, and calibration of specialized equipment used in patient assessment and care.

Education
