Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform urine toxicology specimen collection following procedures.
  • Provide professional service with privacy and confidentiality.
  • Organize workflow for efficient and accurate testing.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control protocols.
  • Order and maintain UA testing materials.
  • Complete data entry as needed.
  • Schedule patient UAs using EMR data.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality per 42 CFR and HIPAA.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and team to address issues.
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job description

As a member of the JusticePoint team, the Urinalysis (UA) Technician coordinates, facilitates, and observes urine toxicology testing for program participants. This role requires strict adherence to testing protocols, professionalism, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and accuracy. The UA Technician supports program operations by maintaining quality control standards and communicating results to the case management team.

Responsibilities
  • Perform urine toxicology specimen collection in accordance with program procedures, including observed urine drug and alcohol screens for male clients (collector must be the same gender as the client providing the sample).
  • Provide high level of professional service and respect for patients’ privacy.
  • Organize workflow to ensure efficient and accurate testing.
  • Ensure compliance with quality control and quality improvement protocols.
  • Order and maintain stock of UA testing materials.
  • Complete data entry requirements as needed.
  • Schedule patient UAs using data from EMR.
  • Assure patient confidentiality in accordance with 42 CFR and HIPAA.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and team members to address quality of service issues.
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge and skills.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Competencies
  • High school diploma

  • Demonstrate ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • At least one year of experience working in a medical, clinical, or similar setting preferred

Terms

Part-time (20 hours a week), Flexible, some weekend and holiday coverage required.
