Job summary

Pieper Veterinary Berlin Street is hiring an Urgent Care Veterinary Assistant in Hartford, CT. This full-time role requires a minimum of two years of veterinary assistant experience and prior urgent care or emergency exposure.

You will support veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, diagnostics, patient monitoring, and client communication during fast-paced shifts. Shifts are four 10-hour days, 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with rotating weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Assistant experience required.
• Prior Urgent Care or Emergency Veterinary experience is a must.
• Experience safely and compassionately handling and restraining animals.
• Experience supporting veterinarians and technicians with treatments and procedures.
• Strong understanding of veterinary medical terminology.
• Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience obtaining patient histories and supporting patient assessments.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Must be available for rotating weekend coverage.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Safely restrain patients and support patient handling needs.
• Obtain patient histories and assist with patient assessments.
• Monitor patients before, during, and after treatments and procedures.
• Support recovering and hospitalized patients as directed.
• Assist with diagnostic testing and sample collection.
• Prepare treatment areas and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Restock supplies and maintain treatment readiness.
• Communicate professionally with clients and team members.
• Help ensure efficient patient flow throughout the Urgent Care service.
