Job summary

Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care in the Hartford region seeks experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners with urgent care or emergency room experience to join our welcoming care team. Providers will treat both adult and pediatric patients in a fast-paced urgent care setting across GoHealth Urgent Care centers.

Per Diem Hourly Rate is $90. Providers must be available to work 2 days in every 28 days, including 1 weekend shift, with 3 days of availability to be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants.
• Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners.
• Experience in urgent care or emergency medicine preferred.
• Experience treating both adults and pediatrics is desirable.

Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Per Diem Hourly Rate

Per Diem Hourly Rate: $90. Employees must be available to work 2 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift, and 3 days of availability to be provided.

Education

• Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
• Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners

Work Experience

• One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• National Certification
• Active state medical licensure

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred
• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
• Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
• Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
• Preferred Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Essential Functions

• Examining and treating patients
• Taking patients’ medical histories
• Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
• Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
• Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
• Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
• Educating and counseling patients
• Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
• Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care

Each provider will work an anticipated eight (8) or twelve (12) hours per shift which will be assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care. All other duties as assigned.
