Hartford HealthCare Corporation is seeking experienced Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners for urgent care roles in the Connecticut region. The position supports adult and pediatric patients, often working alongside physicians in an urgent care setting.

Per Diem hourly rate is $90. Availability for 2 days in 28 days and at least one weekend shift is required. Prior urgent care or emergency medicine experience is preferred, with required licenses and certifications.

Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioners (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu‑like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside of a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills in order to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.

Per Diem Hourly Rate: $90. Per Diem employees must be available to work 2 days in every 28 days block including 1 weekend shift. 3 days of availability to be provided.

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree required for Physician Assistants
• Master’s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners

Work Experience

• One (1) year of full‑time experience in Emergency Medicine or One (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• National Certification
• Active state medical licensure

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting preferred.
• Applicable office procedures including but not limited to suturing, splinting, casting etc.
• Preliminary reads on EKGs and X‑rays required.
• Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required.
• Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
• Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
• Strong communication and customer service skills
