Job summary

OhioHealth in Mansfield, OH is looking for a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiographic procedures. The role involves patient positioning, obtaining and critiquing images, and ensuring radiation safety. Candidates must have an AART certification, BLS certification, and a strong understanding of imaging procedures. This position is part of the Urgent Care department, and hours are as needed for evening shifts.

Qualifications

  • Registered with ARRT; ODH Ohio Radiologic License required.
  • Thorough knowledge of medical imaging procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and express superior customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic procedures using radiographic studies.
  • Obtains diagnostic radiographs and positions patients appropriately.
  • Prepares patients and manages their information during examinations.
  • Assumes electronic imaging technician duties as necessary.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • 40% Performs diagnostic procedures. Conducts routine radiographic studies in diagnostics. Conducts routine and specialized fluoroscopy studies utilizing digital fluoroscope equipment; maintains proficiency in each of these areas. Provides radiation safety for operator and patient.
  • 40% Obtains diagnostic radiographs – places patient in proper positions for procedures, adhering to department policy regarding routine. Positions anatomical parts in the position necessary to obtain an optimum radiograph. Observes patient throughout the procedure and responds to any observed changes; manipulates equipment in proper manner, adjusts technical factors to assure optimal images, and observes equipment safety. Critiques images and inputs only those optimal for interpretation. Repeats images as necessary.
  • 15% Prepares patients for examination – receives orders or requests for procedures from physician, nursing unit, or radiology office and makes necessary entries in the electronic medical record. Greets patient in a friendly manner, makes positive identification, explains the procedure in clear, understandable terms, ensures all necessary clothing and jewelry is removed and patient is properly attired. Starts IBS and draws up medications.
  • 5% Performs miscellaneous related duties – assumes duties of electronic imaging technician when necessary. Processes images for interpretation. Imports and burns CDs. Performs QC tests on X-ray unit and makes impacts as necessary. Works with students enrolled in the radiography program under program guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
  • AART-ODH – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • BLS – Basic Life Support, American Heart Association

Graduate of an approved accredited radiography program. Registered with ARRT; ODH Ohio Radiologic License, BLS certification. Thorough knowledge of various medical imaging procedures and equipment including proper technique and positioning, handling, and administering ionizing radiation, contrast media agents, radiographic anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology. Expresses superior customer‑service skills. Pleasant demeanor, neat, poised appearance. Ability to function as a team member with limited supervision. Highly motivated with effective written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
