Responsibilities include taking patient history, ordering tests, prescribing or referring care, counseling patients and families, documenting care plans, and supporting registration tasks.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview and examination.
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic procedures.
• Provide direct treatment and management via prescriptive authority or referral to other providers.
• Provide counseling and education to patients and families concerning preventative health and treatment options.
• May perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and care.
• Document assessment and patient care plan accurately and timely.
• Coordinate registration functions including collecting and entering demographic, insurance, employer information, and co-payments.
• May assist in operating room.
