Job summary

GoHealth Urgent Care in Avon, Connecticut seeks an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our urgent care team. You will examine and treat patients, order tests, interpret results, prescribe medications, and manage acute injuries in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

Experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
1 year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or Urgent Care
Active state medical licensure
National Certification
Experience treating both adult and pediatric patients in acute care settings

Responsibilities

Examine and treat patients
Take patients’ medical histories
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and X-rays
Make diagnoses and prescribe medications
Treat minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
Record progress notes for follow-up patients
Educate and counsel patients
Order and/or carry out therapy with patients
Give vaccinations and refer patients to additional care
Work eight- or twelve-hour shifts as assigned by GoHealth Urgent Care
Perform all other duties as assigned

Work anticipated eight- or twelve-hour shifts assigned by an authorized representative of GoHealth Urgent Care
Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner
Urgent care, emergency room experience, or high acute family medicine experience treating both adult and pediatric patients
Bachelor's Degree required for Physician Assistants
Master's Degree required for Nurse Practitioners
One (1) year of full-time experience in Emergency Medicine or one (1) year of Urgent Care setting experience required
Will consider 2 years of Family Medicine experience
National Certification
Active state medical licensure
Applicable office procedures including suturing, splinting, and casting
Preliminary reads on EKGs and X-rays required
Experience treating patients ages 6 months and up in an acute care setting required
Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records preferred
Ability to be attentive with strong listening skills
Strong communication and customer service skills

Core Competencies

Demonstrates expertise in patient examination, diagnosis, and treatment, including suturing and casting. Holds relevant certifications and licensure while providing high-quality care in urgent and emergency settings.
