VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Full Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for an urgent care role at Duane Waters Health Center in Jackson, Michigan. The position involves ambulatory care in a correctional setting with night shifts offering premium pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited NP or PA program, hold current state licenses, and be willing to work in a secure, structured environment while providing education

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program.
• Must possess current licenses in the state of employment.
• Correctional healthcare experience preferred but not required.
• Maintains required licensure and credentialing for practice.

Responsibilities

• Respond to medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identify health problems and prescribe treatment under physician oversight.
• Provide medical care using physician-approved regimens.
• Educate inmates/patients, staff, and correctional personnel.
• Document all healthcare contacts and actions.
• Follow safety policies and infection control practices.
• Delegate and supervise other team members as appropriate.
• Work every other weekend and half the holidays.
• Night shift 7 PM–7 AM, 36 hours per week.

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Practitioner utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus in a correctional environment. The Physician's Assistant works with a variety of healthcare professionals/security officers in a correctional environment to provide basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician. Night shift offers premium pay!

Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant Essential Functions

• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
• Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.
• Required to work every other weekend and half the holidays.
• 7 PM-7 AM 36 hours/week

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
• Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
• Experience in Correctional desired but not required
• Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit.
