Job description

MedNOW Clinics is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide high-quality care in our urgent care setting.

This is a full-time position that requires regular Saturday availability as part of the provider's scheduled workweek. The remaining schedule will be based on clinic coverage and operational needs.

This position is ideal for an NP who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing acute illnesses and injuries, performing common urgent care procedures, and making independent clinical decisions while working collaboratively with physicians, other providers, Medical Assistants, Front Desk staff, and clinic leadership.

You will evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of urgent and same-day healthcare needs while ensuring safe clinical decision-making, accurate documentation, appropriate follow-up, and a positive patient experience.

What You Will Do
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with acute illnesses, minor injuries, and other urgent healthcare needs.

  • Obtain appropriate patient histories, perform physical examinations, develop differential diagnoses, and create evidence-based treatment plans.

  • Recognize patients who require a higher level of care and coordinate appropriate emergency department transfer or specialty evaluation.

  • Order, review, and interpret laboratory testing, imaging, EKGs, and other diagnostic studies.

  • Diagnose and manage common respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, dermatologic, musculoskeletal, and infectious conditions.

  • Evaluate and treat minor injuries, including sprains, strains, fractures, wounds, burns, and lacerations within the provider's training and scope.

  • Perform common urgent care procedures based on demonstrated competency, including wound care, laceration repair, splinting, incision and drainage, foreign-body removal, and other approved procedures.

  • Prescribe medications safely and appropriately within applicable licensure and prescribing requirements.

  • Provide clear patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, warning signs, and follow-up instructions.

  • Review abnormal results and ensure appropriate patient notification and follow-up.

  • Complete documentation accurately and timely in Athenahealth.

  • Maintain appropriate coding and documentation to support services provided.

  • Work collaboratively with Medical Assistants and Front Desk staff to support safe and efficient patient flow.

  • Provide clinical guidance to support staff within appropriate scope and delegation requirements.

  • Communicate with primary care providers and specialists when additional follow-up or continuity of care is needed.

  • Maintain appropriate clinical boundaries and practice within individual licensure, credentialing, privileges, and demonstrated competency.

  • Follow MedNOW clinical protocols, quality standards, infection-prevention requirements, and patient-safety procedures.

  • Participate in quality improvement, peer review, training, and other clinical initiatives.

  • Maintain required licenses, certifications, DEA registration, and continuing education.

  • Maintain reliable attendance and availability for the assigned schedule, including Saturdays.

  • Support a professional, respectful, and collaborative clinic environment.

  • Perform other clinical duties within the provider's scope of practice as assigned.

  • Current DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain DEA registration before independently prescribing controlled substances.

  • Appropriate Colorado prescriptive authority.

  • Current BLS certification.

  • Experience evaluating and treating acute illnesses and injuries.

  • Ability to independently perform appropriate histories, physical examinations, differential diagnoses, and treatment plans.

  • Ability to recognize unstable or emergent conditions and appropriately elevate care.

  • Comfortable ordering and interpreting laboratory testing, imaging, and other common urgent care diagnostics.

  • Strong clinical judgment and ability to make safe decisions in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
