Aems is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our urgent care team. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute illnesses and injuries across all ages in a fast-paced clinical environment, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting clinic operations.

Schedule features three 12-hour shifts (8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with possible Sunday coverage.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly motivated** Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our growing Urgent Care team. The ideal candidate is confident in evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of acute illnesses and injuries across all age groups in a fast-paced clinical environment. This provider will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining efficiency, supporting clinic operations, promoting exceptional patient experiences, and collaborating with clinical staff to ensure exceptional patient outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Clinical Care

Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, focused physical examinations, triage acuity determination, and differential diagnosis.

Diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of acute illnesses, including upper respiratory infections, otitis media, sinusitis, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, gastroenteritis, and other common urgent care conditions.

Evaluate and manage acute exacerbations of chronic conditions, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension.

Triage patients appropriately and coordinate transfers to higher levels of care when emergency intervention is required.

Evaluate and treat pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Diagnostic Testing and Interpretation

Order, perform, and interpret point-of-care testing, including rapid strep, influenza, urinalysis, and other diagnostic studies.

Order and interpret diagnostic imaging, including X-rays and EKGs.

Identify and manage findings such as fractures, dislocations, pneumonia, foreign bodies, and cardiac arrhythmias.

Monitor and follow up on laboratory results, imaging reports, and specialist recommendations.

Procedures and Injury Management

Assess and treat minor traumatic injuries, including wound care, laceration repair, and dressing application.

Perform procedures such as:

• Suturing and wound closure
• Incision and drainage of abscesses
• Foreign body removal
• Nail and toenail procedures
• Ocular irrigation
• Splinting and basic fracture management
• Joint stabilization and immobilization
• Digital nerve blocks
• Ear irrigation and cerumen removal
• Burn evaluation and treatment
• Epistaxis (nosebleed) management

Administer injections and medications in accordance with clinic protocols and state regulations.

Occupational Medicine

Perform occupational medicine services, including work-related injury evaluations, return-to-work assessments, and workers' compensation visits, as applicable.

Complete required employer, workers' compensation, and regulatory documentation accurately and timely.

Medication Management

Prescribe medications appropriately and responsibly, including antibiotics, topical medications, analgesics, and controlled substances within regulatory guidelines.

Maintain current prescribing authority, DEA registration, and applicable state licensure requirements.

Patient Education and Documentation

Provide clear discharge instructions, patient education, medication counseling, and follow-up recommendations.

Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the electronic health record (EHR).

Document patient encounters, procedures, medical decision-making, prescriptions, and patient education to support coding, billing, and regulatory compliance.

Complete documentation in accordance with CMS, payer, and organizational coding guidelines.

Leadership and Team Collaboration

Collaborate effectively with physicians, advanced practice providers, medical assistants, radiology personnel, and support staff.

Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to medical assistants regarding patient care, procedures, and documentation standards.

Support clinic efficiency and patient flow while maintaining high-quality care standards.

Maintain efficient patient throughput while ensuring safe, evidence-based care and accurate documentation.

Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while promoting exceptional customer service and patient satisfaction.

Communicate professionally and effectively with patients, families, employers, referring providers, and interdisciplinary team members.

Foster a positive, collaborative work environment and participate in staff meetings, ongoing education, and clinic initiatives.

Clinic Operations

Assist with implementation of clinical protocols and workflow improvements to support efficient clinic operations.

Support inventory awareness and communicate supply or equipment needs to leadership.

Contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment.

Safety and Compliance

Adhere to infection prevention and control standards, including PPE use, isolation precautions, and sterilization practices.

Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and provide emergency stabilization, when necessary, until EMS arrival.

Comply with all clinic policies, state regulations, and professional practice standards.

Maintain compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, CLIA, DEA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.

Current and unrestricted Nevada licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.

Current DEA registration and prescribing authority.

Current BLS certification.

Ability to independently evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across the lifespan.

Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

Previous Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Occupational Medicine experience.

Experience performing common urgent care procedures, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, and foreign body removal.

Experience interpreting X-rays and EKGs.

Current ACLS and/or PALS certification.

DOT Medical Examiner Certification or willingness to obtain, if applicable to clinic services.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.

Ability to lift and assist patients as needed.

Ability to respond quickly to urgent and emergent patient situations.

Schedule Requirements

Schedule consists primarily of three 12-hour shifts (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Additional Sunday coverage may be required based on clinic operational needs.
