Job summary

Kansas Health System is seeking a Medical Assistant for Urgent Care locations on a PRN, part-time basis. The role focuses on ensuring smooth patient flow, preparing patients for visits, performing basic procedures, and supporting the care team across Creekwood, Grand Blvd, KU MedWest, and Medical Pavilion.

Responsibilities include scheduling tests, assisting with procedures, recording data, managing records, and performing clerical tasks.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or at least one year as a Medical Assistant or CCMA or NCRMA certification.
• Basic typing and word processing.

Responsibilities

• Schedules tests, obtains films/reports, and prepares laboratory specimens.
• Assists physicians and nurses with procedures and examinations per competency checklist.
• Coordinates patient care with the health care team and documents patient history as needed.
• Submits prescriptions/refills to outpatient pharmacies electronically, by phone, or by fax.
• Ensures data collected for procedures is recorded in medical records.
• Maintains medical records, documentation, and filing for charts.
• Keeps examination rooms orderly, stocks supplies, and completes required equipment logs.
• Performs clerical duties including greeting patients, registration, scheduling, and insurance processing.
• Performs simple clinical procedures and documents vital signs.

Education
