Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Assistant to blend clinical tasks with front-desk duties. You will greet patients, triage, collect vitals, perform venipuncture, and support point-of-care testing while confirming insurance eligibility and accurate payments.

If you thrive in a fast-paced urgent care, you will register patients, verify coverage, explain procedures and costs, and support HIPAA compliance. AFC offers competitive pay and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Completion of accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain before starting).

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/histories, venipuncture and CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
• Assist with minor procedures, wound care, EKGs, and nebulizer therapy.
• Register patients, verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays, reconcile payments.
• Educate patients on procedures and financial expectations; provide clear discharge instructions.
