Job summary

Corewell Health Urgent Care in Michigan is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support patient care in a fast-paced clinic. You will prepare patients, take vital signs, document histories in EMR, collect specimens, and assist with clinical procedures.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution (diploma or certificate) OR Current CMA/RMA certification
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Assistant experience in urgent care or ER/hospital settings
• Proficiency in venipuncture, injections, and general clinical procedures
• Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR); EPIC preferred
• Flexibility to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays
• Team-oriented, patient-focused approach to care

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations and treatments.
• Perform triage and take vital signs.
• Document patient history in EMR accurately and timely.
• Collect routine lab specimens (blood, urine, oral swabs).
• Administer medications and injections (IM, subcutaneous, intradermal).
• Assist with suturing, staples removal, and splinting when needed.
• Perform basic clinical and laboratory procedures.
• Support Occupational Medicine services (drug screening, breath alcohol testing, audiograms, pulmonary function testing).
• Ensure HIPAA and OSHA compliance.
• Assist with administrative tasks and operate medical equipment.
• Monitor and maintain quality assurance programs and CLIA waivers.
• Travel to other Corewell Health Urgent Care locations as required.
