Job summary

American Family Care (AFC) is looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced urgent care team. You will greet, triage, collect vitals, draw blood, and perform CLIA-waived tests while ensuring accurate insurance verification and smooth front-desk operations.

You will educate patients on procedures and financial expectations, maintain EMR accuracy, and support HIPAA and infection-control standards. A strong team culture and growth opportunities are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (required).
• Active national MA certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) at hire.
• At least 1+ year of experience with insurance verification and patient registration.
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain before starting).
• EMR proficiency and comfort with payer portals (e.g., Waystar).
• Venipuncture and specimen collection skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and triage patients, collect vitals/history, venipuncture, and CLIA-waived tests.
• Verify insurance eligibility, determine financial responsibility, collect co-pays.
• Educate patients on procedures and discharge instructions; maintain empathetic service.
• Support HIPAA compliance and infection-control practices.
