Job summary

Animas Surgical Hospital in Durango, CO is seeking a Medical Assistant or EMT-B to provide technical medical assistance in an acute care setting. You will support physicians, nurses, and other staff in urgent care and ED activities.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and MA/EMT credentials with at least 2 years of clinical experience. Travel and immunization requirements apply; comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications; MA or EMT certification CO state or National Registry.
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs vital signs and documents in patient chart.
• Administers oxygen and basic life support including airway management.
• Performs suctioning of oral, endotracheal and tracheostomy airways.
• Dressing and wound care; splinting as needed.
• Collects specimens (e.g., blood draws, nasal swabs).
• Performs suture/staple removal after training and competency validation.
• Performs 12-Lead EKGs.
• Document all tasks accurately.
• Handle clerical duties: registration, order entry, status changes, discharges, transfers.
• Use SBAR for communication.
